The first graders worked on foil relief snowflake ornaments before Christmas and hopefully those made it to your tree. The students learned about Snowflake Bentley and his work on snowflake photographs. He made incredible quality photographs in the 1800s that are still relevant today. He helped publish the idea that no two snowflakes are alike and that different weather conditions create different kinds of snowflakes! The students drew snowflakes and I covered their designs with glue. Then the students put foil on the snowflakes, drew on them with sharpies, and added glitter glue and stickers. They turned out very sparkly and pretty!
